SPOTIFY AND TINDER TEAM UP TO MAKE THE PERFECT MATCH BASED OFF DEMOGRAPHICS AND MUSICAL INTERESTS

Tinder users can display personal anthems and view artists they share in common with potential matches.

NEW YORK., Sept. 28, 2016 – Spotify, Inc. has teamed up with mobile dating app Tinder to match users based off their music preferences, brings music to dating profiles like never before. This allows users to display their own personal anthems, which is the one song that defines them. After all, a song is worth a thousand words.

Spotify’s founder and current CEO Daniel Ek said of the announcement “Spotify is constantly evolving and learning how to connect with their users through different platforms, first it was Facebook and Twitter, now it’s Tinder. Existing Tinder users will be more likely to create a Spotify account, which will generate more users and more right swipes.”

Spotify and Tinder are a great match for many reasons. Spotify is mainly used on smartphones, while Tinder can only be used on smartphones. Spotify and Tinder users share similar demographics. According to polls done by Statista the highest percentage of users fall under the same age range for both Spotify and Tinder. Twenty-six percent of Spotify users and 60 percent of Tinder users are between the ages of 18 and 24 years old. Currently, sixty-seven percent of Tinder users are male, but the percent of female users is steadily growing. Spotify users are almost evenly split between male and female users.

When first introduced, Spotify was a one of a kind music streaming service. Tinder was one of the first location-based mobile dating apps. Bringing these two innovative companies together was an easy decision for Spotify as they are constantly trying to think ahead of the competition. Many people find music preferences to be a deal breaker in relationships. Now that Tinder users can view artists they have in common with potential matches, finding someone who shares similar music interests is easier than ever before. Isn’t it your time to make a little music with someone new?

SENIOR MANAGER DISCIPLINED AFTER WIKILEAKS UNCOVERS A SERIES OF INAPPROPRIATE EMAILS

Homophobic, racist and sexist emails sent to colleagues who remained silent.

NEW YORK., Nov. 20, 2016 – Spotify, Inc. does not tolerate discrimination among employees. This past week, Kyle Thompson, a senior manager, was identified for sending various inappropriate emails over the span of the last three years. Thompson has been put on immediate unpaid leave and may face charges depending on the results of the investigation.

The emails uncovered span from the course of the past three years. These emails have been received by multiple colleagues who have remained quiet and therefore complicit. These colleagues have not participated in writing discriminating emails, but feared their jobs were at risk if they did not remain complicit with Thompson. This has lead Spotify to completely revamp their Zero Tolerance Policy. The new policy will completely outline what is acceptable for workplace email. It will also have an anonymity clause, which will allow employees who feel uncomfortable to report so anonymously. Spotify’s CEO Daniel Ek announced, “We want to ensure all employees feel comfortable to speak up without fearing the loss of their jobs. Spotify is taking these email allegations very seriously and are going to do what it takes to prevent a similar incident from occurring. We believe our new Zero Tolerance Policy will address this issue. Our deepest condolences for any employee who has been made to feel uncomfortable while working here.”

The Zero Tolerance Policy will also include an easy to understand privacy policy, which will allow Spotify to view any emails sent through the company’s email. All employees, including Ek, will complete an anti-discrimination course online within the allocated time. This course will cover everything from sexual harassment to what is appropriate for emails. Employees will also receive a copy of the new policy that they must agree with and sign.

Spotify believes this new policy will completely revamp the company’s morale. Employees should feel comfortable speaking against something that makes them feel uncomfortable. A designated spokesperson has been assigned to each department at Spotify, Inc. in order to provide support for all of its employees. This spokesperson will be dealing with anything from random rants to sexual harassment claims. They want employees to know that Spotify is a safe place and no one will be fired for speaking up through their names or anonymously.
